The other "OC"

I miss my friends! A lot! Thus, my inspiration for starting this blog. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm sure going to try to figure it out. Bear with me and hopefully this will be a fun, informative place for you to check out what's happening with the Vogel/Davis families. The "other OC" stands for Orange City, Iowa where my husband Todd and I live now. When we got married in August of 2005, I knew I would be moving from the booming metropolis of St. Louis to "Dutchville" (aka- Orange City). I joked with my friends that I was moving to "the OC" (you know, like the TV show??) to make it sound more glamorous. Well, it may not be glamorous, but it's Home. And I actually like it. But as stated before, I miss my peeps.
Life in the OC is slow and steady. Today, the temperature actually got into the double digits for the first time in a couple days, which is quite a change for this born and bred Florida girl. These days I spend lots of time at home with Jackson, our 4 month old son. In case you were wondering, he is the cutest baby you've ever seen. Once I figure out how, I'll post a picture of him to prove it. And he's pretty darn smart. He can roll over and he is very good at carrying on a conversation with me, which is nice since it's just the two of us a large part of the day (and Scarlet, our Brittany Spaniel). Todd works as a corrections officer at a state halfway house. His schedule changes by the month, but right now he is working days, so he's home in the evenings to play Daddy for a while before bed. And he's very good at it.
These days, I am looking forward to Spring a ton so that Jackson can see the light of day. Sometimes we never leave the house because it's either so cold or really there is nowhere to go. For those not familiar with the OC, the nearest mall/shopping venue is about 45 minutes away. Sad for me. Good for our bank account! But we survive and the days actually do go by pretty quickly. So hopefully, this blog will fill some time for me during the day and serve to keep you up-to-date on us without boring you to death. Come back often to check on my progress!
